Postcards and Borchardt photos (pub 1929)

The photographers

The photographers of the Postcards are unknown, but the Borchardt photos were taken by Ludwig Borchardt. Borchardt (October 5, 1863 – August 12, 1938) was a German Egyptologist who was born in Berlin and best known for finding a famous bust of Nefertiti at Amarna. These Qurna photos were first published in 1929 in the German edition of a book of photos by Borchardt and Herbert Ricke. The first English edition of Egypt – Architecture Landscape Life of the People was published by B. Westermann Co, Inc., New York in 1930
